Victor Wanyama Has Got A Street Named After Him

Tottenham and Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama has had a street named after him in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

25-year-old attended a local tournament in Ubungo and had the road leading to the Kinesi Stadium christened in his honour.

He is currently on holiday in the Tanzania.

He was named Kenya’s most influential sportsman after a fantastic season with Spurs.

He took to Instagram to offer his thanks, saying: “Thank you for the Mayor and all the Ubungo Municipal residents for welcoming me and giving my name to a local road name. I promise to come back with thanks for the hospitality you have shown me. Thank you Tanzania.”

Wanyama enjoyed a successful first season with Tottenham making 47 appearances after making an £11 million move from Southampton last summer.

He only missed two gas messages for Mauricio Pochettino’s side who finished runners-up behind Chelsea in the Premier League.
